Children's Primary Care
Complete well-child care for newborns, children, and adolescents

Adolescents (Ages 12-21)

Duke Children’s Primary Care provides a full range of health services for patients 12 to 21 years old.

In addition to providing comprehensive physical exams, we offer screening for physical, emotional, and behavioral health problems.

We also provide parental guidance and counseling for adolescents and parents to promote healthy lifestyles and to address the physical and emotional distress teenagers often experience.

Your teenager's doctor will emphasize preventive health care and will help him or her manage acute issues.

We encourage communication between teens and their parents while establishing a comfortable, trusting relationship between doctor and patient. Our practice respects the adolescent's confidentiality while maintaining the trust of the parents.

Terry Bravender is our Director of Adolescent Medicine, and both John Moses, MD, and Betty Staples, MD, have a special interest in adolescents and teens, but all of our physicians listed below see children in this age range.

Physicals for School, Athletics, and Camp

Children and adolescents are often required to undergo a physical before they may enroll in school, participate in sports, or attend camp.
