When you need treatment for one of the many diseases that affect the vasculature of the brain and spinal cord, Duke Cerebrovascular Center offers highly specialized care by experts.

All our physicians and surgeons are fellowship trained specialists. Their primary focus of practice is the treatment of vascular diseases of the brain and spinal cord.

Experienced and Expert Care

Duke Cerebrovascular Center is one of the busiest cerebrovascular centers in the world. This means patients get expert treatment by very experienced practitioners who are leaders in their field. Multiple studies have demonstrated that experience and volume of cases treated by the physicians and surgeons directly affects the outcome.

Two of the surgical members -- Gavin Britz, MD, MPH,  and Ali Zomorodi, MD -- are trained in both neurosurgery and interventional radiology. This allows them to offer patients unbiased expert advice in regards to the best treatment available for patients that have endovascular or microsurgical treatment options.

Dr. Britz, director of the Duke Cerebrovascular Center, is one of the most experienced cerebrovascular surgeons in the United States.

The Cerebrovascular Center also encompasses a wide variety of physicians in different specialties and allied fields, all expertly trained to provide the comprehensive care required for treating these complex diseases.

Research

A significant amount of research has also been done by the Duke Cerebrovascular Center. Our research activities translate to opportunities for patients to experience the latest innovations in the field at both the basic science and clinical level.

Patients can rest assured that they will receive the best care possible at Duke Cerebrovascular Center.
