Support Groups and Resources for Cancer Patients and Families

Progressing through cancer is never easy, yet it is a special challenge in life that is best tackled with optimism, hope, the right attitude and various types of support. From time to time, it may be difficult to find or even seek out avenues of assistance, and that is where the Duke Cancer Patient Support Program (DCPSP) fits into the picture.

Believing that patients’ needs always come first, DCPSP’s goal is to provide services that results in patients who feel not only cared for, but also cared about.

DCPSP offers continued support from the time of diagnosis, through treatment, recovery, and survival, and also through the circumstances surrounding end of life.

To help patients and families cope with the impact of cancer on their lives, some of the services we offer include:

  • Individual, couple, and family counseling
  • Support groups
  • Self-image resources and workshops
  • Volunteer assistance/companionship
  • Educational resources

All program services are provided to Duke patients and family members without charge.
