State-of-the-Art Care for Asthma and Other Lung Problems

The Duke Asthma, Allergy, and Airway Center combines cutting-edge research with a state-of-the-art clinic for patients with asthma and other lung and allergic problems.

The center offers evaluation and management of asthma and for a wide array of allergic or lung diseases. Physicians draw on a full range of diagnostic laboratory tests and imaging studies within the Duke University Health System, as well as the center's own resources, to ensure that patients receive top-quality care.

In addition to comprehensive medical care, it is our goal to educate patients so that they are empowered to control their disease.

Fostering knowledge in asthma, allergy, and airway disease and treatment is a goal of the center. That's why it has the personnel and equipment necessary for clinical and translational studies that are improving the way allergic and lung diseases are treated.

The center is a joint project of the Departments of Medicine and Pediatrics, and it began operations in 2004 at the Center for Living Campus. Our permanent site opened in August 2005, near Durham Regional Hospital.
