Duke’s pediatric anesthesiologists help to ease pain and promote healing for pediatric patients throughout the Duke system.

Treatment

Our goal is to offer child-centered care that provides an overall pleasant experience for the entire family.

Your child's comfort is important to us, so we have a designated pediatric waiting room and preoperative holding area where they can relax as they wait for surgery. Our pediatric postanesthesia care unit (PACU) allows children a space to recover as we work to ease their pain and discomfort from surgery.

We offer a variety of services at locations throughout Duke, some of which include:

• Preoperative screening
• Acute pain services
• Sedations and brief general anesthetics
• Main operating room services
• Intensive care unit (ICU) services
• Chronic pain services

Research

Our anesthesiologists are involved in a large number of clinical research trials that evaluate various pain medications and treatment techniques. Our patients have the opportunity to participate in many of these trials.
