A brow lift or “forehead lift” is a procedure that restores a more youthful, refreshed look to the area about the eyes.
The specialists at the Duke Aesthetics Center can help correct drooping brows and improve the horizontal lines and furrows that can make a person appear angry, sad, or tired.
Procedure Details
Your surgeon will help you decide which surgical approach will best achieve your cosmetic goals.
An incision is usually made well behind the hairline so that the scar won’t be visible.
The skin of the forehead is carefully lifted so that the underlying tissue can be removed and the muscles of the forehead can be altered or released.
The surgery generally takes one to two hours, and it is an outpatient procedure.
Although a brow lift/forehead lift does not stop the clock, it minimizes the appearance of aging for years.
Recovery
You will experience temporary side effects such as swelling, soreness, numbness, headaches, and bruising.
Generally, you can return to work in five to seven days. More strenuous activity will have to wait for four to six weeks or more. Also, you will need to limit your exposure to sun for several months.
Risks
As with any surgical procedure there is a risk of bleeding, but you will have a pressure dressing postoperatively to diminish this risk.
