Are you drawn to people who are the same as you, or people who are different? If you’re like most people, you’re initially attracted to those who are different—but over time you find that those differences don’t wear well. Join Jan Hargrave, nonverbal communications expert and author of Let Me See Your Body Talk and Strictly Business Body Language, at the Chamber Executive Women's Luncheon presented by Duke Raleigh Hospital on July 29, to help you understand why some differences can be so attractive. She’ll also teach you how to develop patience for differences in the long run.
It all starts with greater self-awareness. Attendees at this program will learn how to:
- Recognize the four basic personality types and their negotiating styles.
- Develop strategies to work better with others.
- Identify ways to bring out the best in others.
- Listen to the “full body” to eliminate distractions and improve concentration.
Hargrave is Cajun French, born to French-Acadian parents in the unique “Joie de Vivre” (Joy of Life) culture of southwest Louisiana. She is CEO of Jan Hargrave and Associates, a Houston-based consulting firm.
She has been a talk show guest of E! Entertainment Television and The Learning Channel, and is a contributing author to the New York Post, Redbook and Us Weekly. Jan also spoke at the 2007 Savvy Women’s Conference, so now’s your chance to hear her again.
The Chamber Executive Women’s Luncheon presented by Duke Raleigh Hospital will be held Wednesday, Jan. 16, from 11:30 am – 1:30 pm at The Hilton North Raleigh, 3415 Wake Forest Road. The cost is $35 per employee of member firms and $50 per non-member.
