Clinical Interests
General pulmonary medicine with a specific focus on asthma, allergic airway disease, sarcoidosis, bronchiectasis and COPD; diagnosis and management of obesity-related lung disease; research focus on the mechanisms by which obesity affects asthma severity and quality of life; clinical research in asthma
Research Interests
My research focus is asthma. I perform clinical trials in asthma. I am specifically interested in the role of adipokines (hormones of obesity) on airway inflammation in asthma. I am conducting a clinical research study to determine if the airway inflammation in obese asthmatics is altered by weight loss via gastric bypass surgery. I am also performing a clinical trial assessing steroid responsiveness in obese asthma subjects.
