Dr. Comstock discusses his role as a Duke orthopaedic physician in this Q&A session.
Why did you choose to practice orthopaedic medicine?
I come from a family of engineers. I have always had an interest in tools, crafts, and putting things together -- whether it be model airplanes, furniture, or bones. The technical skills of orthopaedics are both challenging and fun.
Why did you choose to work at Duke?
Duke makes me better. What I experienced as an undergraduate at Duke University 30 years ago holds true today with Duke Medicine: Being around the best and the brightest helps bring out the best that I have to offer.
What do you find most rewarding about your job?
I like helping to fix people. I find tremendous satisfaction in providing the opportunity for a patient's improvement, whether it be fixing a fracture, scoping a knee, or replacing a joint.
