Research Interests
    Elliott Bennett-Guerrero, M.D. is the Director of Perioperative Clinical Research at the Duke Clinical Research Institute in Durham, NC and is a Professor of Anesthesiology with Tenure at Duke University.  He is board certified in anesthesiology and critical care medicine and is an active clinician on the faculty of Duke University Medical Center’s Department of Anesthesiology.  He practices cardiothoracic anesthesia, general anesthesia, and critical care.  Following graduation from Harvard Medical School, Dr. Bennett-Guerrero trained in cardiac anesthesiology and critical care medicine at Duke University Medical Center.
    His research focuses on causes and prevention of complications in the  perioperative period, including critically ill (ICU) patients. He has led clinical studies on numerous topics including surgical site infection, systemic inflammation, blood transfusion, and gastrointestintal perfusion and function.
