Research Interests:
Dr. Lyerly's research interests focus on bioethics and health policy, specifically issues regarding women's health (i.e., the ethics of decisions regarding hormone therapy, HIV in women) and reproduction (issues of distributive justice, i.e., for infertility treatment; the ethics of prenatal and preimplantation genetic diagnosis, childbirth practices, and research in reproductive medicine, such as evaluation of interventions on pregnant women, and research using the products of conception; patients' attitudes regarding the disposition of their own cryopreserved embryos, distortions of risk in obstetrics and gynecology) and applications of feminist theory (i.e., analyses of techniques employed in evidence-based medicine, general methodology in case-based ethics).
