Fellowship:
  • Hematology-Oncology, Duke University Medical Center, North Carolina, 1988-1991

Clinical Interests:
Hematopoietic disorders, acute leukemia, myelodysplastic syndromes, aplastic anemia, myeloproliferative disorders, anemia, general hematology and oncology, paroxysmal nocturnal hemoglobinuria

Research Interests:
Current basic research efforts are involved with studying the signal transduction pathway of the c-kit proto-oncogene in human hematopoiesis.  We are currently focusing on the role of a novel ets factor, PE-2 and its role in erythropoiesis.  Studies are also ongoing looking at the possible use of the c-kit receptor as a target for gene therapy into hematopoietic stem cells.

Clinical research projects have focused on new and innovative treatments for myelodysplastic syndromes, adult leukemias, and lymphomas
