Research Interests:
Dr. Morgan DeWitt’s research is in the areas of health services research and pharmacoepidemiology. Themes of her work include improving outcome measures of drug efficacy in pediatric clinical trials and outcome measures in clinical practice, variability in physician prescribing practices, health disparities, pharmacoeconomic studies and medication safety. Current research projects include participation in the NIH Roadmap PROMIS (Patient Reported Outcomes Measurement Information System) project in collaboration with Duke, UNC, and other investigators in development of a computerized pediatric patient reported outcomes item bank using modern psychometric theory. The resultant product will be the basis for computerized adaptive testing for health assessment in pediatric patients. An important aspect of the study will be an assessment of the agreement between parent and pediatric patient self-report of their health status. With support from the Arthritis Foundation Engalitcheff Outcomes Initiative, Dr. Morgan DeWitt is also researching disparities in prescription of biologic therapies for treatment of rheumatoid arthritis (RA), and studying the pharmacoeconomics of biologics used for treatment of RA. This research is conducted with collaborators at the Center for Clinical and Genetic Economics (CCGE) of the Duke Clinical Research Institute. She is also involved in a collaborative quality improvement initiative in pediatric rheumatology in conjunction with CARRA (Childhood Arthritis and Rheumatology Research Alliance).
