and the safe efficacious use of intravenous insulin
Research Interests:
Lillian Lien, MD is an Assistant Professor in the Duke Department of Medicine, a faculty member of the Division of Endocrinology, Metabolism and Nutrition, and a faculty member of the Sarah W. Stedman Nutrition and Metabolism Center. Lillian completed Internal Medicine Residency and Endocrinology Fellowship training at Duke University Medical Center. She has long had an interest in quantitative research, beginning with her undergraduate work at Harvard University in Biomedical Engineering. Throughout her medical career, she has devoted her efforts to clinical research and translational projects. In 2001, she received the Barton Haynes Research Support Award for her innovative work in optimizing the safe administration of intravenous insulin. Her other research priorties focus on obesity and metabolism, with a specific interest in the metabolic syndrome and the link between adipocytokines and insulin resistance. She is a key member of the STEDMAN Project team and is involved in wide-ranging project issues from project design to supervising and instructing junior staff. She also received the 2006 Haynes Early Career Research Grant for junior faculty in the Duke Department of Medicine.
