There are many new volunteer opportunities in the soon-to-open Duke Medicine Pavilion at Duke Hospital.
Volunteer opportunities include:
ICU Waiting Area volunteers - Volunteers serve as an important liaison to staff to communicate with patients and families, provide caring support and valuable information to patients, help ease long wait times by spending time with patients and families, and assist with non-medical patient needs. Patient liaison volunteers are an extremely important part of the ICU team in providing an outstanding experience for patients.
Resource Room Volunteers - The new Duke Medicine Pavilion will include a resource room where patients and families may research and discover information about various disease processes, including hypertension, heart disease, asthma, and many others. Volunteers in this role will be on the front line of assisting patients and families in learning more about disease processes, and working as a partner to find answers to their questions.
Duke Ambassadors volunteers - Duke Ambassadors work closely with the professional Patient Concierge Team to assist patients and families, to welcome patients, contribute to an excellent patient experience, and provide important information and directions to patients and families. This is a valuable patient liaison volunteer role which allows the volunteer to directly assist patients and their families and provide an outstanding patient experience.
