The mission of the Duke Department of Pharmacy is to care for patients by assuming responsibility for the medication use process, facilitating safe and effective use of medications.

Several pharmacies are available for both inpatients and outpatients. We have more than 100 clinical pharmacists and 120 pharmacy technicians on staff.

Our pharmacies process more than 4,000 medication orders daily. Every order is reviewed by a pharmacist for dose, route, frequency, indication, allergy, and interaction. More than 10,000 doses are dispensed daily.

Duke Outpatient Pharmacy

Details: This location fills prescriptions for Duke patients and employees. Prescriptions can also be mailed via UPS for a nominal charge.

Duke Cancer Center Specialty Pharmacy

Details: This location provides specialized pharmacy services, with a particular focus on patients of the Duke Cancer Center and patients who have received a transplant at Duke Hospital. The DCC Specialty Pharmacy is also available to fill prescriptions for Duke employees.

Children's Health Center Retail Pharmacy

Details: This pharmacy is designed to help meet the outpatient medication needs of those receiving care in Duke’s Children’s Health Center, as well as pediatric patients being discharged from Duke Children’s Hospital. Prescription products, a limited supply of non-prescription medications, and medication counseling for patients and families is provided. Many hard-to-find products, such as injectable drugs and compounded preparations, can be obtained here.

Children's Health Center Clinic Pharmacy

Morris Cancer Clinic Pharmacy

Details: This is an ambulatory infusion pharmacy that primarily provides services for adult oncology patients who are receiving intravenous chemotherapy at Duke.
