Duke’s experienced athletic trainers design individualized programs to help athletes of all levels prevent injuries and close the gap between athletic potential and peak performance.
The programs draw on the sports-injury and research testing performed at the Michael W. Krzyzewski Human Performance Research Laboratory, respectfully known as "K-Lab."
For each athlete, our trainers selects assessments that are specific to his or her sport, position, and goals.
Assessments may include VO2 max and lactate threshold, and various tests of agility, speed, power, strength, stamina, flexibility, and body composition. Our athletic trainers and sports medicine physicians apply the data to maximize each athlete's training and performance.
Our sports performance programs focus on athletic injury prevention and performance sports training.
Our skilled athletic trainers teach athletes exercises and techniques that help prevent injuries and develop skills that are needed in a specific sport. We help athletes of all ranks achieve higher sports performance levels, showing them the quickest route to their potential. Learn about our Outreach Soccer Program.
This program is a supplement to a professional teams' player development and medical programs, and is open to non-professional elite athletes as well.
Exercise physiologists, a sports nutritionist, sports medicine physicians, physical therapists, and a sports psychologist work with elite athletes to promote performance and prevent injuries on and off the field.
Options for hotel accommodation include the Washington Duke Inn & Golf Club, where the chef works with our nutritionist to provide our athletes with optimal nutrition that suits their preferences and needs.
This program parallels our Personal Training and Professional Athletes programs and focuses on the needs of athletes over 40.
Our sports medicine physicians and athletic trainers provide performance testing and data analysis for Duke University's NCAA Division I teams.
