At Duke Orthopaedics, our dedicated financial counselors offer assistance to help you afford the care you deserve.

When you call to make an appointment, you will be asked questions about insurance and how you plan to pay for your care.

Patients who do not have insurance and those who indicate that they will have trouble paying the bill in full will be contacted by one of our financial counselors to explore ways to pay for treatment.

What We Offer

Our financial counselors can help you:

• Fill out applications for government-sponsored programs such as Medicare and Medicaid
• Sign up for a monthly payment plan
• Learn about other financial assistant programs such as Crime Victim compensation or the Cancer Control Program and how to apply

If outside financial assistance is not available for a patient, our financial counselors can help determine if the patient is eligible for a charity care discount. Charity care discounts base the payment amount on the patient's reported income levels.

All of our orthopaedic clinics have a financial counselor who is committed to helping patients find a way to pay for medical care.
