Alamance Regional Medical Center, in conjunction with Duke University Health System, offers high-quality neonatal services in Burlington and surrounding communities. Our advanced care services complement the comprehensive birthing services offered at the BirthPlace at Alamance Regional.
Neonatologists and neonatal nurse–practitioners from Duke University Medical Center care for high-risk, premature (30 weeks and above), and low birth-weight newborns in the 12-bed level II/III special care neonatal nursery.
The nursery, directed by an on-site board-certified neonatologist, maintains a maximum nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:3. Neonatal coverage includes a registered nurse from the neonatal nursery attending all deliveries. Deliveries identified as high-risk and cesarean sections are attended by a neonatologist or neonatal nurse–practitioner, respiratory therapist, and registered nurse.
