Dr. Jacqueline Rookwood Joins DGIM

Jacqueline L. Rookwood, MD, has joined Duke General Internal Medicine as an assistant professor of medicine, and has begun practicing general internal medicine at the Duke Health Center at Pickett Road.

Rookwood is a graduate of Cornell University, where she received bachelor’s degrees in both chemistry and African American studies. She then completed graduate study in applied physiology at Hahnemann University before entering New York Medical College.

Rookwood completed her residency in internal medicine at Saint Vincent Catholic Medical Centers in New York in 1995. She continued her affiliation and medical practice within New York Medical College as an assistant professor of general internal medicine, practicing at Metropolitan Hospital Center, Saint Vincent, and Our Lady of Mercy Medical Center in New York.

During her career at New York Medical College, she served in multiple primary care teaching roles with physicians in training.

Upon relocating to North Carolina in 2005, Rookwood joined Physicians Eldercare in Winston-Salem before joining Duke General Internal Medicine.

Rookwood has special interest in primary care, women’s health, diabetes, hypertension, and preoperative medical consultation. She is available as a provider for existing Duke General Internal Medicine patients.
