*New!* View your actual results on a secure Duke Medicine internet site!

As part of a pilot project within Duke General Internal Medicine and Duke Medicine, starting on July 9, 2007, you will be able to view your actual test results on a secure website seven days after they are provided to your physician. The Web site, known as Duke Medicine HealthView, can be found at: http://healthview.dukehealth.org.

Three quick steps to access your results on the Duke Medicine HealthView:

1. Create your account. Go to http://healthview.dukehealth.org and click on “Create an account” and walk through the steps. Skip this if you already have created an account.

2. One time activation. Login to http://healthview.dukehealth.org and activate your clinical access by going to the left hand column and clicking first on Preferences and then Clinical Activation. On the Clinical Activation page, enter the code: DUKEGIMPILOTOPCA and click “ACTIVATE”. Then log off and log back in.

3. View your results. On the left hand column, click Clinical and then Medical Records to see a list of recent tests. Click on the test name to view the test. Remember that no test results will be visible until seven days after it was provided to your doctor.

Your participation in accessing your clinical results online during this pilot project is voluntary. All patients having tests performed by DGIM providers will continue to receive a letter via US mail discussing their results.

DGIM Clinical Care and Quality Improvement

A recent study released by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention showed that the percentage of American women who reported getting mammograms in the previous two years slipped from 76.4 percent to 74.6 percent between 2000 and 2005. A recent analysis by Duke Prospective Health of women receiving care in 2005 within Duke General Internal Medicine showed that 87 percent had received recommended screening for breast cancer. Duke General Internal Medicine recommends that all women over age 40 receive a screening mammogram once a year.
