Why Choose Duke

Highly Experienced, Leading Experts
Our vascular surgeons perform hundreds of procedures each year for a wide variety of vascular conditions. Several of our doctors have helped establish international treatment guidelines for certain vascular diseases and circulatory disorders. This helps our providers stay up-to-date on the latest advances in diagnosing and treating vascular conditions.

Team Approach
Because vascular disorders can affect almost any part of the body and often develop along with conditions like diabetes and heart disease, our vascular experts work with other specialists throughout Duke. Together, they collaborate to provide a customized treatment plan for your specific diagnosis.

Sophisticated Imaging Capabilities
We are one of the few centers in the world to use dynamic contrast-enhanced MRI (DCE-MRI). This technology uses a contrast dye to capture accurate images of blood flow in tissues, muscles, bones, and other parts of the body. Our radiologists created the standards for using DCE-MRI in diagnosing vascular malformations

Specially trained technologists offer vascular ultrasound studies to evaluate blood vessels in the neck, abdomen, arms, and legs. This radiation-free imaging option does not require a referral and is ideal for detecting blood clots, venous insufficiency, and leaky valves in a convenient outpatient setting.

Innovative Methods
We use the latest technologies and minimally invasive techniques to manage venous and arterial diseases. We are involved in many clinical trials investigating new treatments for aortic aneurysms, dialysis access, carotid artery disease, and peripheral artery disease. We treat all types of vascular disease with the most up-to-date, proven methods.
