The pediatric pacemaker service specializes in the care of patients who have pacemakers or implantable cardioverter defibrillators (ICDs).
Interrogation, testing, and programming of pacemakers and ICDs is performed in this clinic, with other testing available as needed.
Our highly qualified physicians also perform transvenous (inserted through a vein) and dual-chamber pacemaker and cardioverter-defibrillator implantations (ICD), generator changes, and lead extractions.
When epicardial (outside the heart) or hybrid epicardial-transvenous pacing systems are necessary, we collaborate with Duke's Congenital Heart Surgery Program to provide precise therapy for these often complex problems.
Initial referrals to the Duke Children’s Heart Program are generally made by your child’s primary care physician. To make an appointment, please call 919-668-4000.
