The Heart Failure Rehabilitation Group at the Duke Center for Living is designed to help patients have a better quality of life.
It takes place Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and lasts approximately 12 weeks.
Physical therapists perform an initial evaluation, then design an exercise program that is based upon your particular goals. Each day you will work on building your endurance and your strength through individual and group exercises.
In addition to the exercises, we provide a series of lectures from various professionals to discuss topics that affect individuals with this particular diagnosis. These lectures include an introduction to your disease, pharmacology, stress management, energy conservation, breathing techniques, nutrition, and learning to live with your diagnosis.
This program is designed to not only help you manage your disease better, but also to allow you to enjoy your life.
This service requires a doctor's referral and is covered by insurance. If you have been diagnosed with heart failure and would like to make an appointment, please call 919-660-6673.
