Thanks to Dr. Dean Taylor's skill in repairing my torn Achilles tendon, I was able to participate in the National Senior Games in Houston in tennis singles, mixed doubles tennis, and doubles badminton. To say the least, it has been a gruelling, but rewarding week.
I won the silver medal in tennis singles by losing in the finals to the ninth-ranked singles player in the country. Bill (in spite of having had shoulder hemiarthoplasty at the end of January) and I barely missed the chance to play for the mixed doubles bronze medal, but still wound up with the eighth-place ribbon. Yesterday I played two badminton matches and am scheduled to play two more today.
During all the activity, I did not have any problem at all with the Achillles. I am certain that without his great care, I would have never been able to recuperate and be back at full speed.
