The Duke Sleep Disorders Laboratory has expanded to a total of 14 overnight beds and welcomes new and returning patients seven days a week, 355 days of the year.

The expansion, from 10 to 14 beds, has reduced patient appointment wait times by 84 percent (less than four days).

Also, as a direct result of the expansion, more than 90 percent of patients are seen within 14 days of their referral, a vast improvement from 40 percent in 2009.

The Duke Sleep Disorders Laboratory, located in The Millennium Hotel in Durham, opened in 2005 and continues to be in the 90th percentile among its peer group in Press Gainey Patient Satisfaction surveys.

It offers patients a comfortable atmosphere for overnight sleep studies, daytime sleep latency testing, and vigilance testing. Duke Neurology also provides twice-weekly outpatient clinics to evaluate people suffering from all forms of sleep disorders.

The lab and all of its physicians are accredited by the American Academy of Sleep Medicine.
