Keeping Student Athletes Safe During Summer Workouts Article

1.    Why did you choose Sports Medicine?
I’ve always been involved in sports as a participant and a spectator.  During my training it seemed a natural fit.  My exposure to sports medicine was always enjoyable and those that were involved in the care of athletes seem to derive a high level of satisfaction in their job.  I have certainly not been disappointed in my career path as I have also experienced a high degree of enjoyment and satisfaction being involved in the area of sports medicine.

2.    Why Duke?
During my recruitment, I was naturally intrigued with the reputation of Duke Sports medicine and duke University Athletics.  I knew the physicians involved in Duke Sports Medicine to be of the highest caliber.  I am very pleased to now be a part of such an outstanding team of physicians, athletic trainers, physical therapist, other medical personnel and coaches.

3.    What is most rewarding about your job?
Without a doubt I receive the greatest amount of satisfaction in seeing an injured or ill athlete return to their full potential on the playing field.  Whether an individual is competing at the highest level or simply a recreational athlete, returning these athletes to “play” and assuring their health and success is extremely rewarding.
