Since the Food and Drug Administration started requiring nutrition labels on packaged foods in the early 1990s, many people have started consulting them before deciding what -- and how much -- to eat.
While nutrition labels can be a good guide, all the information contained in that little box can be overwhelming and hard to decipher at times.
