NASCAR legend Richard Petty and his wife Lynda came to Duke University Medical Center two years ago when Lynda was having trouble with her eyesight.

She was diagnosed with lymphoma and received treatment at the Preston Robert Tisch Brain Tumor Center at Duke. Now Mrs. Petty is doing well and comes back for checkups.

Watch her story in this video.

The Pettys knew that Duke was a top medical center. But in addition to each physician giving great care, Mr. Petty could see them working perfectly with each other. He called neurooncologist Henry Friedman, MD, his “crew chief.”

Duke offers the multidisciplinary approach where doctors work together to best treat the patient. In addition to physicians and nurses with the Duke Cancer Institute and Preston Robert Tisch Brain Tumor Center, she was treated by health care providers at the Duke Eye Center.

Duke is highly ranked in both cancer and eye care by U.S.News & World Report.
