Laser skin resurfacing is a kind of cosmetic laser surgery that helps give patients a sense of rejuvenation through skin tightening around the eyes.
Duke Eye Center offers the several cosmetic laser skin resurfacing treatments and procedures.
The Duke Eye Center was the first facility in the area to offer the Fractional CO2 laser as an option for cosmetic laser skin resurfacing.
The Fractional CO2 laser offers a means to skin tightening and minimize wrinkles and pores. This latest laser resurfacing breakthrough allows for faster healing times than traditional carbon dioxide lasers.
Only one treatment is required for the Fractional CO2 laser, unlike Fraxel lasers that can require three to five treatments. Treatments can be done under local anesthesia or IV sedation as an outpatient procedure.
Patients can expect excellent results from this carbon dioxide laser procedure when they have five days to recover; patients with seven days to heal see even more dramatic improvements.
Laser vessel removal of the face works like an eraser to remove broken or enlarged blood vessels, scars, and other vascular lesions. This treatment is especially effective for treating vessels surrounding the nose and on the cheeks.
A laser or an intense pulse light source is used to perform this procedure. It takes a few minutes and can be performed with no anesthesia.
The patient can wear makeup and return to work shortly after the procedure.
Either a laser or intense pulsed light source can be used to remove hair follicles on any part of the body.
The best candidate for laser hair removal is a patient with pale skin and dark hair; however, the laser can dramatically thin hair on a wide variety of patients.
Blue and black tattoos are the easiest to remove using a laser. Generally, tattoo removal requires multiple treatments varying from four months apart to one-and-a-half years depending on the tattoo.
Laser treatments are best accomplished when the patient has no suntan.
Age spots can be removed by a CO2 laser or intense pulsed light. Your physician will decide if the lesions should be biopsied or can be immediately removed with one of the light sources.
