It is the policy of the Duke Eye Center contact lens service that all patients that are currently wearing contact lenses be seen every year for a comprehensive examination and contact lens examination.
If you are a new patient to our clinic, it is helpful if you can provide the parameters for the lenses that you are currently wearing. Otherwise, you will be considered a new fitting. Contact lens examinations have a separate fee that is not included in your comprehensive examination.
The fitting fee, which includes follow-up care within the first 60 days, is determined by the type of lenses prescribed, the difficulty of the fit, and whether or not the patient is a first time contact lens wearer. This fee is non-refundable and due at the time of service.
The fitting fee includes:
Duke Eye Center offers a 100 percent refund on lenses returned within 60 days of the dispensing date.
Beyond this 60-day period, we offer a 100 percent refund or exchange for disposable lenses if the lenses are returned in unopened boxes or are in sellable condition.
This guarantee does not cover the fitting fees. The fitting process is time-intensive and typically requires the purchase of custom-made or trial contact lenses. The fitting fee is not refundable even if a satisfactory fit is not obtained.
Fees for the comprehensive examination, contact lens fitting, or annual contact lens examination are due at the time of service. All contact lens orders with the exception of trial lenses require payment at the time of ordering. All specialty lenses are ordered with warranty to guarantee that they are returnable within 60 days.
