Ulthera, the first device approved by the FDA to do a non-surgical lift of the face, is now available at the Duke Eye Center.

Ulthera works by tightening the deeper layers of the face beneath the skin and neck. It lifts the jowls, neck, and brows and takes about one-and-a-half hours to perform a treatment under local anesthesia.

Patients experience minimal downtime, with most patients returning to work in just one day. Tightening of the skin continues over the next three-to-six months.

Julie Woodward, MD, chief of the oculopastics and reconstructive surgery service at Duke Eye Center says, “The results are not as dramatic as a facelift, but it costs less than half the price of a facelift, has almost no downtime, requires no anesthesiologist, and has no scars. It’s a great non-invasive alternative to traditional facelifts and we’re excited to have the device for our patients.”

Ulthera non-surgical facelifts are performed at the Duke Aesthetic Center on the Duke Center for Living Campus.
