Allergan, Inc. announced in October the recipients of the fourth annual Horizon Grants.
In its ongoing support of the eye care community and future of ophthalmology, the Allergan Horizon Grant Program provides funding to academic medical departments to support fellows seeking careers in medicine and conducting clinical research in the diagnosis or pharmacological treatment of glaucoma and corneal and retinal diseases.
Duke Eye Center cornea and refractive surgery specialist Natalie Afshari, MD, and clinical fellow Ricardo Santaella, MD, were recipients of the $50,000 grant.
Grants were awarded based on the strength of the fellowship program, the clinical and research plan for the institution’s fellow, how the grant funds will be used an activities the fellow will be engaged in while in the program.
