The American Board of Ophthalmology (ABO) announced the appointment of three new directors who began their terms on January 1, 2010.

The new directors are Keith H. Baratz, MD; J. Douglas Cameron, MD, MBA; and Paul P. Lee, MD, JD.

Baratz is an associate professor in the Department of Ophthalmology at the Mayo Clinic School of Medicine in Rochester, Minnesota.

Cameron is chief of the Division of Ophthalmic Pathology at the Armed Forces Institute of Pathology in Washington, DC, and professor emeritus of ophthalmology at the Mayo Clinic School of Medicine.

Lee is vice-chairman of the Department of Ophthalmology and senior advisor to the chancellor and director of Applied Health Systems Research at Duke University School of Medicine in Durham, North Carolina.

The directors are tasked with setting strategic goals and executing the overall mission of the ABO during their four-year terms. They are also required to devote a significant amount of time to the development and maintenance of certification examinations and processes.
