Abernethy is a medical oncologist and medical director of Oncology Quality, Outcomes, and Patient-centered Care in the Duke University Health System. As director of the DCCRP, she focuses on improving the symptoms and quality of life of cancer patients at all stages of disease and survivorship.
The DCCRP comprises teams of clinical researchers who focus on improving the health-related, emotional, psychosocial, and spiritual experiences of cancer patients.
