Getting in Shape After Baby

Bring baby and practice movements to regain core stability and strength. This 6 week series of classes is targeted to new moms who are just beginning to exercise after pregnancy. Moms should be at least 6 weeks but not greater than 3 months postpartum when beginning class. If you experienced a cesarean birth, please bring medical clearance from your physician to exercise. Join us immediately afterward for “Motherhood: The New Reality Show”.

Look Good, Feel Better
12:00 p.m. - 2:30 p.m.
The Look Good … Feel Better program is designed to educate women receiving cancer treatment to assist in coping with changes in their physical appearance that may result from their illness or treatment.

Grief and the Holidays

The holidays can be an especially difficult time of the year when you are grieving. This workshop will offer helpful strategies for self-care and explore the possibility of creating new family rituals and traditions.

Stroke Support Group

Get Real & Heel

Learn how to use recreation and exercise to successfully manage the side effects of breast cancer treatment.

A support group for children dealing with cancer.

A class touching on general information for expectant parents regarding the basics of baby care (feeding, bathing, diapering, etc.). A practical demonstration utilizing a baby model will be offered.

Infant and Child Pediatric Life Support

Participants will receive an introduction to infant and child safety strategies along with being trained by the American Heart Friends and Family CPR standards for Infant and Child CPR. $35 for an individual/$50 for a couple.

Epidural Pain Relief and Other Options

To assist mothers to make informed decisions about pain relief during labor, this class provides detailed information about epidural analgesia along with a brief description of other pain relief options. Geared for patients birthing at Duke and Durham Regional hospital, dads and partners/support persons are encouraged to attend the discussion about these options. Class is facilitated by an anesthesiologist and nurse who provide care in the Duke Birthing Center. Note- those wanting indepth knowledge about the labor process and all pain relief options are encouraged to register for a Prepared Childbirth class.
