A support group for those with leukemia, lymphoma, or multiple myeloma.

Low-Carb/Low-Glycemic Diet Support Group

Support group for those who are currently using a low-glycemic or low-carbohydrate approach to diet (along with exercise and stress management) to stabilize blood sugar, improve cardiovascular health, and lose weight. While participants/professionals share information on managing this diet approach, this is a peer-to-peer support group format.

Getting in Shape After Baby

Bring baby and practice movements to regain core stability and strength. This 6 week series of classes is targeted to new moms who are just beginning to exercise after pregnancy. Moms should be at least 6 weeks but not greater than 3 months postpartum when beginning class. If you experienced a cesarean birth, please bring medical clearance from your physician to exercise.

Gastrointestinal and Pancreatic Cancer Support Group
2:00 p.m. - 3:30 p.m.
A weekly support group for those with gastrointestinal and pancreatic cancers.

Mindful Expression: Innovative Strategies to Thrive Through Breast Cancer
6:00 p.m. - 8:30 p.m.
Participate in an experiential workshop for women with breast cancer and learn valuable skills that complement treatment and enhance healing.

Prepared Childbirth

Increase your confidence in the birthing process by attending a series of classes (4 classes – July 7,9,14&16) that includes information and practice sessions on: *Signs and stages of labor *Breathing techniques *Medical Interventions *Pain management options *Positioning for comfort *Postpartum Information *Role of the support person *What to expect in the hospital. Educators trained as Lamaze certified childbirth instructors (LCCE) teach all classes at Teer House. The eight (8) hour series is available on weekdays or weekends. Expectant parents are encouraged to complete the series between their 34-37th week. Register early, space is limited. Call 919-416-DUKE (919-416-3853). Fee - $80

Infant and Child Pediatric Life Support

Participants will receive an introduction to infant and child safety strategies along with being trained by the American Heart Friends and Family CPR standards for Infant and Child CPR. $35 for an individual/$50 for a couple.
