Duke Raleigh Hospital offers a Pre-Operative Orthopaedic Surgery Class for all patients and family members. The class covers what you can expect before, during and after joint and spine surgery.
We will provide you with helpful information, useful tips and answer any and all of your questions.
You will meet your nurse, case manager, physical therapist and the occupational therapist that will be working with you.
This class occurs every Thursday.
PLEASE DISCUSS THIS CLASS WITH YOUR DOCTOR. YOU OR YOUR DOCTOR CAN SCHEDULE THE CLASS.

Increase your confidence in the birthing process by attending a series of classes (four classes -- Tuesday/Thursday -- January 10, 12, 17 & 19, 2012) that includes information and practice sessions on: *Signs and stages of labor *Breathing techniques *Medical Interventions *Pain management options *Positioning for comfort *Postpartum Information *Role of the support person *What to expect in the hospital. Educators trained as Lamaze certified childbirth instructors (LCCE) teach all classes at Teer House. The eight-hour series is available on weekdays or weekends. Infant/Child CPR and Safety (PBLS)

Participants will receive an introduction to infant and child safety strategies along with CPR training according to the American Heart Association Friends and Family CPR standards. This class does not provide participants with certification cards.
For the comfort of "mom's-to-be", we recommend taking this class before week 34.
Fee: $35 per person or $50 per couple.
