Duke Raleigh Hospital offers a Pre-Operative Orthopaedic Surgery Class for all patients and family members. The class covers what you can expect before, during and after joint and spine surgery.
• We will provide you with helpful information, useful tips and answer any and all of your questions.
• You will meet your nurse, case manager, physical therapist and the occupational therapist that will be working with you.
This class occurs every Thursday.

Join Duke Heart Center at a fun-filled, family-oriented health education event that includes bystander CPR sessions for the family, heart health risk factor screenings for adults, a health fair, and heart healthy cooking demonstrations.

Prepared Childbirth Class Series

Increase your confidence in the birthing process by attending a series of classes (two classes -- Saturday/Sunday -- February 11 & 12, 2012) that includes information and practice sessions on: *Signs and stages of labor *Breathing techniques *Medical Interventions *Pain management options *Positioning for comfort *Postpartum Information *Role of the support person *What to expect in the hospital. Educators trained as Lamaze certified childbirth instructors (LCCE) teach all classes at Teer House. The eight-hour series is available on weekdays or weekends. Expectant parents are encouraged to complete the series between their 34-37th week. Register early, space is limited. Call 919-416-DUKE (919-416-3853) or 1-888-ASK-DUKE (1-888-275-3853). Fee - $80

Infant/Child CPR and Safety (PBLS)

10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.
Participants will receive an introduction to infant and child safety strategies along with CPR training according to the American Heart Association Friends and Family CPR standards. This class does not provide participants with certification cards.
For the comfort of "mom's-to-be", we recommend taking this class before week 34.
Fee: $35 per person or $50 per couple.
