Pre-Operative Orthopaedic Class

Duke Raleigh Hospital offers a Pre-Operative Orthopaedic Surgery Class for all patients and family members. The class covers what you can expect before, during and after joint and spine surgery.
We will provide you with helpful information, useful tips and answer any and all of your questions.
You will meet your nurse, case manager, physical therapist and the occupational therapist that will be working with you.
This class occurs every Thursday.
PLEASE DISCUSS THIS CLASS WITH YOUR DOCTOR. YOU OR YOUR DOCTOR CAN SCHEDULE THE CLASS.

Motherhood: The New Reality Show

Bring the baby, pack a lunch and join other new moms as we brainstorm tips on infant care and surviving motherhood. We will discuss coping strategies for the developmental milestones of infants, provide lactation support, offer suggestions for transitioning back to work and share resources for staying home full-time.
This class/support group is targeted to moms who are 2 – 12 weeks post-delivery, however, any new mother is welcome as often as you like. Classes are facilitated by an RN/Lactation Consultant. Often Duke Pediatricians/Residents are able to join us. One-time $10 fee for all the sessions a mom chooses to attend.
Prepared Childbirth Class Series

6:30 p.m. - 8:30 p.m.
Educators trained as Lamaze certified childbirth instructors (LCCE) teach all classes at Teer House. The series of classes includes information and practice sessions on: signs and stages of labor; role of the dad/support person; vaginal and cesarean births; comfort measures including relaxation and breathing techniques; pain management options; coping with unexpected outcomes; hospital routines. This 4 class series will be Mondays, April 29, May 6, 13, & 20. Expectant parents are encouraged to complete the series between their 30-37th week. We recommend you attend the hospital tour prior to beginning this series since some dates may conflict. Register early, space is limited.
