More than an event, the Start! Heart Walk is an experience.

The event brings the Triangle community together to raise funds to fight the nation’s top killers -- heart disease and stroke.

In addition to the 1 or 2.5 mile walk,  the Create Hope, Inspire Change, and Celebrate Success areas will:

• Pay tribute to lost loved ones   

• Honor survivors of heart disease and stroke

• Encourage behavior changes in adults and children like increasing physical activity and making heart-healthy choices part of daily life

• Highlight the successful fundraising efforts of individuals and companies

• Celebrate individuals and companies who have made significant changes to lead a heart-healthy life

Lace up your walking shoes and join the American Heart Association at the Start! Triangle Heart Walk. Visit the event Web site for more information and to register online early to ensure your walk team's success.  

As the signature fundraising event for the American Heart Association, the Heart Walk promotes physical activity and heart-healthy living in a fun family- and dog-friendly environment.

Duke Medicine is a sponsor for this year's signature fundraising event for the American Heart Association.

• Registration begins at 2 p.m.
• Walk begins with opening ceremonies at 3 p.m.
