Description

Week Four: Getting Started on an Appropriate Exercise Program

Exercise: stressing the importance and health benefits of regular exercise. Including aerobic and resistance training.

Help getting started on an appropriate program
Minimum goal will be equivalent of walking 30 minutes, five days a week by end of program

Directions

From Raleigh:
From I-40 - Get onto the 147 Durham Freeway. Take the Duke Street Exit. Continue on Duke Street, which is a one way through downtown for a few miles. Go over the I-85 overpass and continue on North Duke Street through 5 traffic lights. You will pass KinderCare on your right. Take the next right onto Frasier Street. Take first left across from the Duke Clinic onto a small access road. Bear to your right into the Teer House parking lot. Teer House is the large white house. You may park behind the Teer House or in the front circle.

To return to 147 - Go out to Duke Street the same way that you came in. Take a left onto Duke Street. Go over the I-85 overpass. Duke Street becomes Gregson Street, which is a one-way street. Follow Gregson Street for a couple of miles through downtown Durham. Immediately after the 147 overpass, take the next left onto 147 South.

From 70 W - Take 70 West towards Durham. When 70 West & I-85 South merge please stay left toward I-85 South, 70 West. Take the Duke Street exit # 176. Continue on North Duke Street through 5 traffic lights. You will pass KinderCare on your right. Take the next right onto Frasier Street. Take the first left across from the Duke Clinic onto a small access road. Bear to your right into the Teer House parking lot. Teer House is the large white house. You may park behind the Teer House or on the front circle.

To return to 70 – Go out to Duke Street the same way that you came in. Take a left on Duke Street. Follow Duke Street to I-85/70 East. Go over the bridge and take the immediate right exit onto I-85 North/70 East.


From Chapel Hill:
Take 15-501 North I-85 North towards Durham. Take the Duke Street/ Roxboro exit #176 B which goes under the bridge and circles back over I-85. Once you cross the bridge go through 5 traffic lights. You will pass KinderCare on your right. Take the next right onto Frasier Street. Take the first left across from the Duke Clinic onto a small access road. Bear to your right into the Teer House parking lot. Teer House is the large white house. You may park behind the Teer House or on the front circle.


DATA
(Durham Area Transit Authority) provides bus service Monday through Saturday. Take the Route 4 bus -- Durham Regional Hospital / North Duke Mall. It stops near the back entrance to the Teer House.
