Strategies to Communicate Colorectal Cancer Risk

We need volunteers to help us learn about how to best tell people their chances for getting colorectal cancer.

We will be testing whether different types of information such as numbers, words, or pictures increase people’s reactions or understanding of their chances of getting colorectal cancer.

Eligibility Requirements

  • Be between 50 and 75 years old
  • No history of colorectal cancer screening
  • Be relatively familiar with the internet
  • Speak and read in English
  • Give informed consent

Study Requirements

The entire study can be completed over the internet from wherever you are.

  • You will be asked to complete a series of questionnaires about your understanding and perception of your risk for colorectal cancer.
  • You will be given information about your risk for colorectal cancer.
  • We will then ask you again about your perception and understanding of your risk for colorectal cancer.

Duration

It takes about 40 minutes to complete the first series of questions. After three months, we will send you a link to our Web site and ask you to complete one final questionnaire that will take you about 20 minutes to complete.

Compensation

You will be compensated $20 for your participation.
