Duke University Medical Center is conducting an observational study to better understand nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) by following and evaluating persons with this condition. Evaluations will occur annually.
Treatment for NAFLD will not be provided by this study. NAFLD is a common liver disease in the United States. The causes of NAFLD are unknown, but are likely to involve many factors ranging from genetic characteristics to personal lifestyle.
You will be asked to come to the study clinic for a screening visit to ensure you are eligible. If necessary, this visit could occur on more than one day.
After enrollment, we will ask you to return to the clinic for annual visits for up to a four-year period.
