The purpose of this study is to use functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) to study the neurobiological basis effects of temporarily quitting smoking in response inhibition in attention deficit and hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) smokers and non-ADHD smokers.
Eligibility Requirements
- Age 18 to 50
- Smoker
- May or may not have ADHD
Study Requirements
- Visits involve a screen (five hours), test and safety visits (five hours), three fMRI scan visits (three hours each), and two follow-up smoke quit checks.
- Medication in study: methylphenidate (generic Ritalin) and placebo
