A Study Comparing Measures of Ventilatory Heterogeneity (VH) in Asthma Patients
This is a 3-period, non-randomized study in patients with either mild asthma (exercise induced or currently maintained on Step I / II medications [NAEPP guidelines]) or moderate/severe asthma (NAEPP clinical profile with Step III-IV medication use) and a history of clinical exacerbations to evaluate Oe 1H- and 19F-MRI as treatment response biomarkers in future clinical trials. This study will also assess the reproducibility of both MRI measurements to determine their utility as enhanced functional pulmonary biomarkers, and a window into their predictive value for exacerbations will be obtained through the use of a post-study clinical review at 6 months following study completion (REF# 38169)

SAPS Study - Smoking Asthmatics Pilot Study
The Duke Clinical Research Unit is recruiting asthma patients who also smoke to take part in a research study. the study will examine whether questionnaires used to evaluate asthma symptoms in non-smokers can also be applied to people with asthma who smoke. (REF# 41549)

Asthma Patient Registry
The Duke Clinical Research Unit is enrolling people with asthma into the American Lung Association's Asthma Clinical Research Center patient registry. (REF# 18719)

Effect of Positive Airway Pressure on Reducing Airway Reactivity in Patients with Asthma
Asthma patients who do not smoke and have been using medication for at least a year are needed to take part in a research study at the Duke Clinical Research Unit. (REF# 34572)

Long-Acting Beta Agonist Step Down Study (LASST)
Males and females, age 12 years and older are needed to participate in a research study to evaluate the optimal treatment strategy for reducing therapy in people with asthma. (REF# Pro00034544)

Airway Remodeling in Asthma: Modulation by IL-13
Researchers seek adult non-smokers with asthma to participate in this study. (REF# 10331)

GSNO Reductase, S-nitrosothiols, and Asthma
Researchers are seeking adult non-smokers with asthma for participation in this study. (REF# 10753)

Surfactant Protein A Regulation of Innate Immunity in Asthma
Researchers seek adult non-smokers with asthma for participation in this study. (REF# 18811)

Vitamin D Add-On Therapy Enhances Corticosteriod Responsiveness in Asthma (VIDA)
Researchers seek adults with asthma and low vitamin D levels for participation in this study. (REF# 27628)

Small Airways in Asthmatics
Duke Asthma and Airway Center is conducting a study to determine if there is a difference between the small airway in elderly people with asthma compared to younger adults with and without asthma. (REF# 31283)
