Do you think losing weight might help you get around more easily?

Duke University is looking for Overweight Women and Men Volunteers who want to lose weight to join the MEASUR-UP Study

What would you have to do?
There is a 6 month time commitment for the program. During the program you will be coming to Duke for about one hour each week to participate in the study. At the beginning, middle, and end of the intervention, we will ask you to come in for up to three appointments to measure your physical function and your body composition, and to fill out some questionnaires about your activity and dietary habits. The intervention requires you to change the way that you eat during the study time period, so that you lose at least 10 percent of your current body weight. For example, a man who weighs 200 pounds at the beginning of the study will lose 20 pounds during the 6 month program.

Criteria? You must be 60 years of age or older, a non-smoker, be obese (BMI >30), have some trouble getting around or performing daily tasks.

Compensation? None.
