Hospitality is defined as the action of making individuals feel comfortable and welcomed. The Hospitality Cart is a volunteer-led program that embraces this definition.

Volunteers go door-to-door offering opportunities for socialization, nourishment, and activities for structuring free time to patients with cancer and their families.

Units served: Adult Oncology Medical Units 9100 and 9300, and Adult Bone Marrow Transplant 9200. Patients with cancer being treated on other units may also be served on a referral basis.

Volunteer Requirements

Application process: An application must first be submitted. A background check is required. Volunteer Service’s requirements including JCAHO safety training and necessary health/TB screening must be met.

Commitment: A minimum of six months commitment is required.

Hours: Hours are flexible, but two hours per week minimum is requested.

Physical requirements: Volunteers should have adequate vision, hearing, speech, and mobility to engage with minimal to no difficulty. No lifting over 10 pounds is required.

Dress code: Please dress in clean, neat, and casual clothing. Sleeveless shirts, above the knee shorts, and open-toed shoes are asked to be avoided. Moderate amounts of time are spent on your feet, so comfortable shoes are recommended. Please avoid wearing any perfumes or heavy cologne.

Supervisor: Kristy L. Everette, LRT/CTRS
