KidsCan! Support for families facing cancer.

When a parent has cancer, it affects the whole family.

Run by the Duke Cancer Patient Support Program, KidsCan! helps parents with cancer and their children ages 6-18.

KidsCan! meets the second Monday of the month, from 6-8pm (dinner and parking vouchers provided) at the Duke Cancer Center.  Next meeting is September 10th, 2012  For additional information please call 919-684-4497 or email cancersupport@duke.edu

At each monthly meeting, dinner is provided for parents and children before they break up into smaller groups.  Each month, the groups focus on a different theme such as understanding cancer, changes in the family, feelings, self-care, memories, cooperation, love and family.  The children work on an activity related to the theme, and talk with the facilitator and each other.  The parents discuss the theme and how it relates to their family.

Supported in part by the Holt Foundation.
