The Duke Cancer Institute is home to one of the most comprehensive skin cancer treatment and research programs in the world, offering the full spectrum of care from screening and surveillance, through management of primary disease, to treatment for recurrent and metastatic disease.

Tests and Treatments

The most effective treatment for skin cancer is determined by taking into account the type and stage of the cancer and whether it has spread to other parts of the body.

The Duke Cancer Institute offers:

  • Diagnostic testing using the latest technology to detect skin cancers
  • Radiation therapy before and after surgery to shrink the lesion
  • Medical therapy including chemotherapy and immunotherapy to kill cancer cells
  • Surgery to remove the lesion while minimizing changes to appearance and function
